Winning an Academy Award can be seen as the opening of a door. This door can lead to the opportunity for Oscar winning actors and actresses to receive a plethora of film roles. Looks like he/she will be in the presence of good quality work forever. This fact is 100%....WRONG!!! Unfortunately, there have been many examples in which Academy Award winners fall from grace by choosing projects that have led them into becoming Razzie Award winners and/or nominees. There are many times where it feels as if the mighty have fallen onto the pavement and they are not getting up anytime soon. Here are twenty painful falls to the pavement.
Ten Bad Career Choices for Oscar Winning Actors
10. Jamie Foxx in STEALTH- From battling drugs in Ray to battling an artificial intelligence program????
9. Robin Williams in Old Dogs- It really upsets me that someone such as Williams would be reduced to one too many moronic projects that did not really put his talent to good use.
8. Robert De Niro in The Family- This uneven mob comedy makes me yearn for the days during the 20th Century when De Niro seemed to be much more picky with scripts.
7. Adrien Brody in Predators- This is the kind of film that I feel Brody should have done before his powerful role in The Pianist, not after.
6. Cuba Gooding Jr. in Daddy Day Camp- Show me the money, not the stupidity!!!
5. Marlon Brando in The Island of Dr. Moreau- You know the world's over when the great Marlon Brando is reduced to giving a ludicrous performance as a mad scientist with an accent that is a cross between The Godfather and Winston Churchill.
4. Al Pacino in Gigli- While Ben and JLo's affair came to an end after this movie, at least it did not go down as Pacino's last film.
3. Christopher Walken in Joe Dirt- I got a fever and the only prescription is better career choices!!!
2. Russell Crowe in Noah- This ridiculous retelling of Noah's Ark is one ride that Crowe should not have boarded.
1. Nicolas Cage in The Wicker Man- This dreadful remake of the great British film is proof that Cage has had one of the weirdest post Oscar winning careers, period!!!
Ten Bad Career Choices for Oscar Winning Actresses
10. Nicole Kidman in Bewitched- Nicole should have used her powers to make this whole movie disappear.
9. Susan Sarandon in Mr. Woodcock- A non-energetic performance from Sarandon gave me the indication that she was just in this movie to cash a paycheck.
8. Mary Steenburgen in Step Brothers- While Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly get to chew up the scenery, both Steenburgen and Richard Jenkins look as if they would rather be anywhere but there.
7. Jennifer Hudson in The Three Stooges- Jennifer did not become American Idol, and the same can not be said for her involvement in this bizarre project.
6. Helen Mirren in Arthur- Helen Mirren succeeds Nicolas Cage as a post-Oscar winning career being flushed down into an unnecessary and dreadful remake.
5. Kathy Bates in Failure to Launch- Even the great Kathy Bates is unable to prevent this unfunny comedy from failing.
4. Meryl Streep in Hope Springs- Meryl's record for having the most Oscar nominations for acting does not include this mindless and predictable exercise.
3. Angelina Jolie in Wanted- It is sad to see great actors, such as Jolie, in an utterly confusing movie that comes off more like a video game.
2. Ellen Burstyn in The Wicker Man- Unfortunately, Nicolas Cage was not the only Academy Award winner to sink incredibly low with this mess of a film.
1. Halle Berry in Catwoman- I am very thankful that there was no Catwoman 2!!!!
